A Tribute to Dusty Peak

Celebrating the life of a great husband, father, surfer, community leader

I may be the only living person who was on the Point before Dusty. Not sure, but it's close. I remember him well as a young boy. Bright, fun loving, and very solid. You always knew who Dusty was. He was front row, center, take it or leave it. Over the years as we grew up and experienced the haze of the late 60's and early 70's, Dusty was always Dusty. A shining light amongst the havoc. And he experienced more sadness than almost anybody. He was on a larger mission though;that much was clear, and what he did with his life is testament to that. I deeply regret to hear of his passing and express my condolences to all his loved ones. You are very blessed to have had such a wonderful Dad and husband.

Leslie-

Nice to see your name as well! The years have been good to me, mostly. 2 great sons, married 32 years, live in Thousand Oaks............no complaints. How about yourself?

Dear Jim, Thanks for your kind words Denise
Jimmy, Mark Nolind here.  I think you pool table is the first on the point.  I remember how you told me your brother jumped a ball and ripped the table. I know some great people played on it. I remember Dusty had huge fingers. He loved the Lord, and now so do I.  He inspired me, you you did Jim, and your sister, Vickey.  and of course Bobby Johson.  I remember going to Bill and Rods, karta class, and after fighting every one there, I had to fight Bill and Rod. Then Bill Larson took me out on the eighteen foot cat, and held up one side for an haft hour, and my stomach muscles about died, while watching him laught.  So many good times on the Point.  I held a glass plate 8 by 10.  I still have the old pictures if any one wants an email.  Mark Nolind.  Dusty is a true hero in all ways to all of us.
