Many are there in Spirit today.

I wanted to be down there for both the memorial and the paddle out. But I live pretty far away. Its 109 degrees in Redding today. I am there in Spirit. I spent a lot of years in Malibu at little…Continue

Dusty, a profound farewell......

Denise,     The grace and love of Jesus Christ is more than enough to cover my blind spots.   I know that this same grace and love was more than sufficient for Dusty as well.   If we can have confidence in Jesus…

Leslie, I only reconnected with Bill on his page on Dusty's memorial website a few weeks ago. I had not seen him for over 30 years. I remember him as a jovial, light hearted person who laughed a lot and made others laugh. I reminded him of a bb…

Steve- I too feel a deep and personal loss with Dusty's passing (more so than I thought I would have). My roots with him go way back, but more so in a "big brother" kind of way. I would occasionally see him at church and at the beach…

Greg, Long time no see. I know you have seen Jim off and on. I talk to Jim at least every day. I'm up in Portland now where I've lived for the last 20 years visiting friends. We are currently living in Redding. Life has been an astonishing…

Steve, A remarkable tribute to a gentle, soul surfing giant! The deal with Dusty in the late sixties was, I got him safe passage at P.O.P Pier on more than a couple of epic days, lived in the trailer, knew his brother and family well and in return,…

It would have been great to see you both again. Circumstances no, but hanging out would have been fun.

I'm not sure Dusty would like a sign or plaque. Lets face it, it was Dusty's presence that brought order. I think a bronze statue would be awesome, Dusty could still be the guardian and I think having a statue would impart those unspoken…

Steve, Good to see you haven't lost perspective. Yes I too was from Santa Monica and Dusty let me into Dume to surf and let me hang at his parents compound. Back then we were all great friends and there were waves to spare. I respected Dusty…

Mike, Your insight about Dusty is right on. He was one of those people who cared about and helped a lot of people. He did it quietly and without ever wanting any recognition. Thanks for posting the photos of the paddle out for those of us who…

Hey Steve,
Good to hear from you and nice to here that you and Wendy are in love and together. Larry Mann is doing well; it’s Larry Erwin that has MS. He’s been bedridden for about the last 10 years. They are hard cards to be dealt but his wife and family are with him and his attitude is unbelievable.

Kristy and I got divorced about 6 years ago. We decided happiness was more important than appearance. We are much better at being friends than lovers. The nuclear family still gets together for dinners and holidays.

I’m a very lucky dad. I gave my parents unbelievable grief while TK and Tyler are the best. TK and his girlfriend were picked for the TV show the Amazing Race and won. Went around the world in 28 days and won a million bucks. How cool is that!!

Tyler graduated from UC Santa Cruz in June and decided to do a ‘little’ traveling. Alone with his backpack he is gone for about 7 months. He called and said 'I bought my ticket'. I thought he’s going surfing someplace.

He’s going to Brazil, England, India, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand. How cool is that!!

Well, I was hoping you made it to the big time…I was going to ask you if you could loan me some money.

I follow Nick Rozsa’s surfing career. Boy, can that guy surf. He’s almost as good as we were.

Stay in touch and let me know when you are down this way.

Ah Grasshopper, When you can snatch the pebble you can go, for Russell and I have snatched the pebble......and now we are gone. I am sitting here with Russell himself....we just returned from the paddle out at Point Dume for Dusty. Probably 200 people in the water and another 200 on the beach. Absolutely amazing.

Russell wants you to know that he has wonderful lasting memories of the gun fight and he is so sorry if he shot Dusty in the face.

If you get this right now... call us at 310 457 7756

Ps....remember the bottle rockets in Mexico?

I remember that trip to Shasta.....Paula and her dog Tex and skiing over at Whiskey Lake. I still have the pictures and your in them, buddy.
